Grease (not the movie)

the smell of grease reminds me of childhood. i grew up in a car repair shop.

i would wake up every morning hearing the running and rumbling noise of engines. i could smell the fumes and motor oils all at the same time.

i was born and spent my teenage years surrounded with wrecked cars, junked cars, brand new cars, huge trucks, delivery vans, all kinds of vehicles.

half way in high school, we moved out of the shop, in a more descent home with a lawn and grass. no more grease, but the shop in our old place continued troubleshooting until my father stopped fixing cars and ventured into gamefowl breeding. then no more shop.

although in our home now, we still have the repair tools and equipment. friends and loyal customers would sometimes drop by and tinker their own cars using our tools.

right now there's a big truck in our compound. the little girl is quite fascinated. she would climbed and play pretend.

with the smell of grease and motor oils, memories of childhood came flooding again.
