A Bacolodnon in Giordano Typography Line

When Giordano Philippines released the winners of the 'World Without Strangers' t-shirt design contest, I was excited because a Bacolodnon made it in the top seven. According to Giordano, these are seven unique designs that are not only aesthetically creative, but also contain unique and empowering messages such as breaking stereotypes and binding national Filipino identity.

This is John Patrick G. Glaraga.

Patrick, as he's popularly known to his friends (ahem, that includes me), is a registered nurse. He graduated BS Nursing from University of St. La Salle and started his passion doing the designs of t-shirts and jackets of his swimming team during Sportsfest in college. He's a graphic designer based in Manila for four years now.

Life Counts. A concept that Patrick worked on for a month surveying, gathering ideas, facts, working on the design, and finally the finish product.

Available in Giordano Stores nationwide. Here in Bacolod, Giordano is located at the 2nd Level of Robinson's Place Bacolod. Retail price is Php599.00.

Let us support Patrick's Life Counts T-Shirt. Counting what matters in life instead of counting calories. Live life with optimism, humor and with the right kind of respect and attitude.  Avoid exposure to bad ideas and habits.

 Well done Patrick. Congratulations!

Simple Joys

Yesterday was fun in St. Scholatica's Academy-Bacolod.

Grabbed some breakfast at McDonalds in La Salle Ave., with my friend Sue, then walked back to St. Scho after (sorry no photo of the long walk and the breakfast).

Just some random shots, too bad it rained after the performance of the kids, the food stalls was tempting.

Glad to spend an early morning chitchat and stage mother support to a friend.

Simple joys.

Thank You Bebang!

for this:

My friend Bebang of Living...Loving...Scrapping! who resides in Singapore and she's currently here in the country for the holidays, gave me an alphabet stamp set!

I've been looking for this but I can't find any here in the city.

Thank you Bebang :)

Halloween at McDonald's

This year Mabe and I decided to skip the Trick or Treat organized by the mall. We joined McDonald's Halloween FunDay instead (inside the mall). Less chaos, but still a bit chaotic :)

Little Red Riding Hood enjoyed the painting part, got annoyed with the games, not happy in waiting too long for the food to be served (we paid for a registration and that includes food). For me this was better than the Trick or Treat chaos outside and the Costume Contest that turned into a 'career' to some participants.

After McDonald's, together with my friend Ladybird and her kids we did our own Trick or Treating  inside the mall. Way way better than going with the whole bunch of kids and stage mothers (like us! lol), just don't expect more candies though.

The faces after scoring a treat...priceless!

Happy Halloween everyone :)

No Other Woman/No Other Bekky

this afternoon, sue and i watched No Other Woman. (i swear, this is the 3rd tagalog movie we've both seen since we became friends 10 years ago. lol)

okay, so the movie made millions of money, so many good and positive reviews, the most talked about one-liners of the characters, etc., etc., but here are things we have observed aside from the predictable cheating/adulterous theme:

* The presence of expensive and classy FURNITURES made the movie expensive and classy too. In short, 'may taste'. i want to know, whose furniture line was that?

* The RESORT of the Zalderiaga's looks familiar (bellarocca?), i think i saw it in some blogs i have read recently. great location.

* The BAGS. no need to elaborate here.

* The shades of LIPSTICK that suits Anne Curtis (definitely not the pale pink!)

* The WEDDING PICTURE of Derek and Christine in their modern bedroom is disturbing. duh! you're noveau rich but your wedding picture is really baduy.

* at the end of the story, anne curtis showed up in Mercato and saw derek and christine with their kid. The KID! i'm sorry but the casting for the kid seemed to be wrong. next time choose a kid with a little resemblance from the parents!

* oh, last thing, the snakeskin TWO-PIECE SWIMSUIT of anne doesn't looked good. not even fit her well.

here's NO OTHER BEKKY:

the other day Twitter was flooded with No Other Bekky tweets from the famous one-liner of the characters, very funny:

* "No pressure. Liptulelang mo si atashi pero witchikels kang ji-inlababels ke akes" (No pressure. Kiss me and don't you dare fall in love with me)

* Watlalu ba ang mas majurap kajumbagan ung potching chararat o ung potching hilton? (Ano ba ang mahirap kalaban, ang putang mahirap o ang putang mayaman?)

* Anything to help you? Naku witit na! baka ma-sightsung mong nilalafuk ko ng aneklar ang fudang. (Anything to help you? Naku wag na baka makita mo pa na nilalagyan ko ng lason ang pagkain mo.)

hilarious!

i had fun sue, here's what we had after the movie:

choi reuben sandwich..haha, joke. it's REUBEN Sandwich.
hey that's my Frozen Latte!!
extra chips. hi-tech hi-waiter. no more clap-clap to call the server. just click that button.

how about you, how's your monday?

Teachers

Today is Teacher's Day.

and i just realized, we have quite a number of teachers in our family:

* my brother is a high school teacher;

* my mama's sister Lucia, a retired high school teacher;

* aunt Monique teaches in Philippine Military Academy;

* aunt Binky teaches in UP-Baguio;

* an uncle who teaches in high school;

* my mother-in-law, a retired elementary teacher.

(*note: relatives, if you read this, please remind me of the others i haven't mentioned.)

and speaking of teachers, my daughter brought little something for her teachers today.

we all have unforgettable, sad, and funny stories of our teachers. oftentimes, the ones we remember are those who touched our lives, those who made a difference and made us who we are today.

for me, there's only one teacher whom i will never ever forget for the rest of my life. the person who guided me, believed in me, and protected me like her own daughter. my college teacher, my schoolpaper adviser, my friend, my mentor: Portia Importante-Viedor.

Happy Teacher's Day!!!

Axl Rose

after the Zombadings, sue and i had some pizza and went crazy over studded leather bracelets in People are People. with all the leather and studs i told her we're going to look like Axl Rose...

photo from starpulse.com

as a child of the grunge 90's, i remember the teenage me wearing 10 or more kinds of bracelets in my right wrist all at the same time (yeah, crazy kid). there was a time when we're about to start lunch my father saw my bracelets, i was scolded and told to take off ALL of it or else i can't have my lunch. ugh!

grunge kid or not, here's my pick. i love it. (and i'm still waiting for sue to upload the picture of her bracelet...hello where are you). lol

i had a great time with you sue jolens...

a.k.a. axl rose!!

here's the photo of sue's pick:

Zombading Day with Sue

"Charoterang sprikitik, umappear ka vhakler. Magpafeel, magpasense, ditey sa baler. Witiz shokoley ang udangchi ditey. Sa fezlaboom mo mars na super kalurkhey!"

while waiting for sue outside the cinema...tom jones na aketch

it's been ages since the last time i entered a movie theater.

the movie Zombadings Patayin sa Shokot si Remington is hilarious, becky-loving and a funny movie..but sad to say the cinema is empty, there's me, sue, and a lady we don't know. as in. (oh, when we went out we saw a pair of lovers coming down from the balcony, so that makes us five then).

actually i am such a paranoid, i kept looking behind our seats, hello, shokot aketch ma biktimel ng hold upsler...if ever after wiz ma knowzz ng security bank kasi he's outside the cinema.

but definitely sue and i had a great time. we grabbed some pizza after then we bought leather bracelets. it will be another blog entry :))

photo from sue's iPad

happy weekend!!

Happy 3_th Birthday Al!!!

Alberto Abay is my friend since year 1997(?)...then around year 2000 we became frenemies (long story why the world war..lol!)...then we became friends again late 2009...he was such a bitch to me for almost 10 years, he would ignore my presence, he wouldn't answer my text messages, he wouldn't talk to me...(kaloka) crazy right...

but not as crazier when we were in college and still friends then...like the time we got into a car accident and Al was using his father's car...we were scared as rats..and  those times when we would burn our ears over the phone until morning...chika to death...talking about boys, boys, and girls...ahem.

the photo below was taken two years ago...he never showed his body art..but he did this for us (ladybird and i)...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! * let's forget the age..

God Bless you and i wish you happiness and success!!
