Everyday ballet class can really be tiring, leaving you almost without energy.

This is what we do after getting home, after a cold bath, Mabe and I in bed, in our pajamas, Mabe listening to Adele, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift.

Chill.

From Ballet to Gadgets

The past few weeks our schedule has been focused in ballet class since the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet exam is getting closer. The kids has been working double time in mastering their precised movements and positions. 

But knowing kids (especially my kid) they are always looking forward to play after class. And talking about playing, even before class they keep themselves preoccupied with gadgets. I don't mind giving her the freedom when it comes to gadgets, kids these days are more comfortable with the language of electronics and technology, for as long as they are guided properly, let them tinker and explore the world with gadgets.

Tabletiquette

Yes. There is such a thing called Tabletiquette. With the fast trend and the arrival of all versions of iPad and Tablets in the market, there are some rules in behaving and handling your gadgets in public.

I was a victim of an iPad user last night WITHOUT a Tabletiquette:

Expect the stares.

Embrace them, even. Sure, the aforementioned gawking died down once we all got used to seeing iPads in public spaces/transportation, but if you have a non-Apple tablet, the thing will arouse some curiosity. Be nice. Answer questions about whether you consider it a worthwhile purchase. If you're not wearing headphones, you might as well have a big "Talk to me!" sticker on the back of your device.

Don't put anything embarrassing on your tablet.

Your iPad is an open e-book. You can expect a little privacy on your Kindle (no one needs to know you downloaded "The Dance of Intimacy") or on your smartphone (anyone with any social grace knows they should stay away from your personal lockbox of texts, voice mails and e-mail), but a tablet is just begging to be played with.

In more ways than one: A friend shared a tale of being handed a PR person's personal tablet and told to look up something related to a client. Said friend obediently typed a letter into the address bar -- and up popped a list of recently visited URLs, all beginning with the same letter, and all of them, yes, porn. Clear your browsing history, OK? On an iPad's Safari, you just click on Bookmarks/History/Clear History. And please, clean your tablet regularly. Shudder.

Don't get it out during a movie.

We're not just talking about theaters (keep it under wraps there, too), but home movies. The glowing screen steals your fellow viewers' attention when they're trying to get lost in the plot line. Honestly, this goes for your smartphone, too. If you can't make it through 120 minutes without checking Words With Friends, you're choosing the wrong flicks.

Use caution when bringing it into a meeting.

Sure, tablets can be the glowing stars at a conference room table: They let you look up results or give quick PowerPoint presentations on the spot. But pecking at the screen while someone else is talking -- even if you're just taking notes -- looks rude. Stick with pen and paper for note-taking unless the rest of your co-workers have gone digital, too.

Stop plunking it in front of your child as if it were a mesmerizing electric babysitter.

Anyway, to make the long story short, I wasn't able to get any decent photos. All I got were photos of this lady's freakin' iPad in my camera.

AND yes, I do own a tablet too but I do have proper Tabletiquette.

who killed the radio star...

no, not Video. (the song kept playing in my head, lol)

Before the era of Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, and all sorts of social networking sites, my generation have the CB UHF Radio.

Some of you might be familiar with this equipment, but for those who weren't, CB UHF Radio or the Citizen's Band Ultra High Frequency Radio is the one our local police department, rescue units, and  fire department uses. A walkie-talkie thing that allows you to communicate through channels or frequencies. You need an antenna installed, a Base CB with microphone or a handheld radio with a rubber ducky antenna to transmit your message.

Today there's LOL, ROTFL, LMAO, TTYL the new language in the net, in our radio days we have the Q-Codes and 10-Codes. The most basic were: QRX (standing by), QSY (move to another frequency), QSO (conversation), 10-4 (ok, message received), 10-20 (what's your location), etc. etc.

Today we have 'haters' both in Facebook and Twitter, in radio we have 'jammers'. There are common things though, like EB (eyeball) and stalkers! 

Life was much simplier during the Radio days, majority of the hobbyist don't have mobile phones just yet. I gained a lot of friends. I befriended long time neighbors who happened to have Radios too. Life was way cooler.

I was full of CB UHF Radio memories. Some were funny, some were rough, some were just simply memorable.

 

So nobody really killed the radio, its just there...just like the radio antenna in our roof.

a while ago, i saw mabe playing with her Nintendo DS...then I saw the upper screen of the gadget...i took my camera and clicked (she's too busy editing her photo below, she didn't mind me clicking away).

is my daughter really eight years old? (lol)

i asked her where did she get that question, she points to herself and said, 'me lang', then she showed me the unedited version, the one without the heart thingies.

Mobile Phones: down memory lane

Did you remember the first phone you've had? I know, it's 5110. I myself had that phone. Some even got the Motorola Star Tac! Remember the hunched back looking phone? 

Read with me as I take you back to my mobile phone memory lane...

Let's move a little forward. After the Nokia 5110 and 3210 cellphones, I got myself this.  Nokia 8210 served me well. I was a bad cellphone owner. If this phone can only talk, it will curse me.

Then this phone is a freebie from a Post Paid Plan courtesy of republic. Honestly, I don't like the metal casing. I have a tendency to keep on using my phone even its drizzling, sometimes raining (tough job i got). This phone went all rusty on me.

I personally bought this phone, Treo 180. The only available Treo unit in a gadget store here in Bacolod. This was the time when QWERTY phones was slowly getting into the market here in the country. I should have followed my husband when he was a bit hesitant when I decided to purchase this unit. A heavy phone user like me shouldn't have a flip phone. The cover got damaged eventually, and I don't know where to have it fixed without sending it to the main supplier.

When my Treo got busted, I bought this. From a wallet sized phone I went to this phone that is as tall as a cigarette lighter. Panasonic GD55. People actually smile seeing me with this tiny phone. (this phone is still alive and functioning, huh!)

Around 2004, Nokia came up with a QWERTY phone. This is the i-series of the First Qwerty Nokia Phones. I still can't get over with my love for my Treo, so I got this phone. A freebie again from a Post Paid Plan. This was the best phone decision that I ever made. After a few mouthpiece repair and some reformatting, I am still using this phone.

As a result of my Hello Kitty addiction, I bought this cutie. Hello Kitty C90 Phone. Touchscreen, with Camera, Flashlight, and an MP3 Player as well.

This Blackberry Bold 9700 was a gift from my husband. Unfortunately, BB and I were not meant for each other. So sad that BB got slammed on the wall and died, but here's the good news, BB is now alive and doing well. (hahaha) We might try a second chance next year when my husband brings BB back to me.

Right now, Nokia e61i and Samsung Galaxy Tab serves me well.
