Great Finds...Great Reads

Small paperback from the right Php 107.00, then the bigger one from the left Php 45.00! Really pays off if you keep on browsing in the shelves. (haha)

Then another book turned into a movie. Watched the movie for a number of times, I just love love love the scenery.

I can imagine the sunflowers in Tuscany...and i remember the sunflowers inside the Changi Airport (taken last June).

Time to curl up and read. Goodnight!

Saturday

Done reading The Secret Life of Bees until early morning. Cried a bucket. Now my search for a dibidi begins. As I have said, I am bound to disappoint myself watching the movie version. Goodluck to me.

Today mabe missed the 9am ballet class because of me, because of The Secret Life of Bees (lol). Arrived at the studio at exactly 10am for her next class. Had lunch at the mall after. Took some photos of herself while I'm browsing some stuff in a store.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Holiday Reads

I am all set for the holidays, going nowhere but the four corners of my room: to curl up in bed and read.

Most of my loot from BookSale were made into movies. I have a tendency to grab this kind of books sometimes, then I'll watch the movie after and disappoint myself. (i guess books made into movies are all like that, a disappointment) though i understand the need for movie makers to shorten the storyline to fit into a 1hour and a half movie but still...it's not the same anymore :(

The greatest find of all the books above was the Lemony Snicket book (hehe). I am a fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events movie, this treasure was priced for Php70.00 only.

How about you, what's keeping you for the long weekend?

The Smell of Books

i love the smell of books. inhaling a paperback before reading is heaven. i can stay inside a bookstore for hours browsing and smelling books. i know a lot of friends who love the smell of books too.

when e-book came into the picture, i love it but i still have that addiction with the smell of books. as a matter of fact, i have loads of photography e-books in my Samsung Galaxy Tab that i did not finished reading, all because of the book smell that i was longing for.

but here comes a product that solves it all. Smell of Books in a CAN, it's an aerosol e-book enhancer. i have read the site and it is compatible with the Portable Document Format (PDF)  e-books that i have but i am not sure if i'll just have to spray it or what, why does it has to compatible to an e-book format if it's just a spray. anyway, learn more about it here.

on vampires and bookstores...

take a look at my october 8, 2008 entry from my republic memoir...(eewww) can't believe i sacrificed blogging because of twilight series.

i remember sue asked me around september 2008 if i have read the twilight series...i said no, i was so busy in republic that i couldn't find time for some paperbacks...she said her brother got the books from abroad august of 2008...that was around the last book of the series, breaking dawn, went out. since i love black, the cover of the book stuck in my mind easily...

october 4-6, 2008 came, that was the sisterhood with makati if my republic memory is still functioning...the moment we had dinner at glorietta, i sneaked out and visit my favorite bookstore, fullybooked...then lo and behold, the books i'm looking for were neatly stacked, nobody seemed interested in browsing. i bought the three available books in the series.. the third to the last book, eclipse, wasn't available. i think it was there way of keeping some excitement...how can you finish the series without the third book...so i'm sure they intended to make it available on the later part...when the public began to talk about the book, and when the movie began some early publicity...(cat theory only, ok?)

in manila, i started reading twilight. knowing that we had a whole day activity with makati city, still, i kept on reading until two in the morning. my roommate nesaleh, who grew up in the mountains of republic (haha) and hits the sack at eight in the evening, cannot bare the thought that i can stay awake and read until my eyes hurt..hehehe sorry nesah, i have to spill the beans that you're sleeping habit is so barrio-tic..

even tita edna or taed, as we fondly call her, my seatmate in the plane going back to bacolod was curious what book am i reading...taed had this fear in flying that i kept her company by narrating to her the edward-bella story since i'm half-way in reading the book...

i got the eclipse book at the national bookstore in bacolod...i had my name on waitlist... i was so persistent that i finally had the book in my hands..it was a loonggg story...hahaha

then after the twilight saga, i got hooked in more vampire stories. i discovered charlaine harris' sookie stackhouse series. seven books..some i got in national bookstore here in bacolod, then others in fullybooked in manila. the problem with national bookstore here is, whenever you  look  for not so popular books, you're going to have a hard time finding it in their shelves. but after i completed my sookie stackhouse series, trueblood (the hbo series based on the book) was out in cable tv, national bookstore laid all the books in their display table. sheeesh.

the 8th book came out later...my cousin aileen in australia sent me a downloaded from internet version, my eyes hurt reading from my computer screen and i cannot concentrate, so i kept on coming back to national bookstore until i found this.

oh, and after the sookie thing, there's the circle trilogy of nora roberts...i borrowed sue's paperback, but i haven't completed reading the other two books :((

now whenever i see kristen stewart's face in tv, i shut it off..i cannot bear to look at her face, her acting, the slouching posture, the tired and hungry face, everything about her. and robert pattinson?? ugh...shoot me when you see me lining up for the fourth movie. kill me!

enough of vampires. goodnight real people!!

laziness strikes again..

because of my loot from week ago, from booksale...yes i buy my books there, way cheaper than national bookstore..plus the fact that i love to read 'ancient' books, books read by others years years before me, books that was made into a movie, books with artsy covers...books i have already read before but i can't find it anymore (because my brother borrows some and NEVER return it!!).

now i'm done with the two, halfway with the third...and the weather is cooperating, what more can i asked for?

plus the remote is with me in between my readings...

i am so lazy.com

have a good day everyone!
