i am scared of earthquakes. for the last 30 plus years of living in negros, i experienced 4 or 5 slight earthquakes. none of them brought severe damage.
i am quite sensitive when it comes to ground movements. i can feel tremors easily. when i was in college, i remember telling the whole class, while our teacher was in the middle of a lecture, that there's an earthquake. but they told me "hmmm feeling mo lg na", then a few seconds later, the emergency alarm went on. we were told to vacate the school building.
this morning, i slept around 2:30am, i had a migraine that i pop on some paracetamol before dozing off. then all of a sudden i woke up around quarter to five, i could feel the bed shaking and it took a few seconds to stop. i went back to bed, and again the ground moved but not as strong as the first one.
a magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit Negros and other parts of Visayas island.
i am writing about this because memories of the July 16, 1990 earthquake in baguio city came back to me and reminded me of my clan's terrifying experience (90% of my relatives reside in baguio city).
now i realized, July 16 is just four days away.
bottom line is, we have to thank God that the earthquake this morning has done no damage.
keep safe everyone!
