Piko'

Piko' is a traditional filipino game here in the Philippines. According to WikiPilipinas, Piko' or buan-buan is the local equivalent of hopscotch, a playground game involving a diagram divided into sections, drawn on the ground with usually chalk or charcoal. Players hop from section to section. The game is for two to eight players.

mabe discovered Piko last year. she was begging to teach her how to play the game, so my niece Frances showed her how.

traditional filipino games like piko' and others like patintero, sipa, luksong tinik are rarely played by children nowadays. it really would not hurt us parents if we introduce these filipino games to our kids.

i am glad that in mabe's school, there's a permanent piko' diagram.

i took the piko' photos before heading out to church this afternoon. we had a great weekend!

how's yours?
